American Paint Company – Chalk Paint

There are 46 paint colours to choose from! Always my biggest dilemma is what colour(s) to choose! It is always a difficult decision for me.

All of American Paint Company (APC) Products contain all natural ingredients.  The actual list of ingredients are:

  • Water
  • Clay
  • Porcelain Clay
  • Cellulose
  • Alcohol ester (used as a binder)
  • Titanium dioxide
  • CONTAINS NO SOLVENTS OR TOXINS
  • Odour Free

I recently assisted a client on a project, she had used her own paint and I ended up having to touch up some places.  As I was painting in my kitchen as I always do; I was taken aback at the smell of this paint as soon as I opened the can, it was very overwhelming. I can honestly say I’m very spoiled by the APC products!

There are endless combinations with this paint.  There are a total of 46 different shades, but these paints can be custom mixed to give you that special colour you’ve been searching for.  You can add white to lighten up your paint colour or add grey to give it a darker tone. Or you can mix it with water or one of our all natural sealers….more on that later!

As I tell all my students – there are no mistakes with this paint! If you don’t like how it looks, simply wet the paint or use sandpaper to take it off and start again.  Some of my “oops” have turned out to be just what I was looking for!

This paint is also the easiest way to distress to give you the country chic look which is so popular now, who knew it was this easy?  You can use a wet distress meaning, you apply one colour as your base coat and when that is dry you can add another colour on top.  Then use a wet rag and simply wipe off as much or as little paint as you want.  Some of the effects you can get are amazing.  You can also use sandpaper to distress.  My personal favourite is the wet distress but I will write about the art of distressing at another time.

There are American Paint Company Retailers all over Canada and the United States.  If you would like to find out more or attend one of our many workshops, I encourage you to contact a retailer close to you.  Please refer to the American Paint Company Web Site  to see a list of our retail locations.

As always, any questions, suggestions or comments are always welcome!

Until next time….Happy Painting!
